The Golden West Fit

Because every cowgirl deserves boots that feel as good as they look.

Step 1: Know Your Usual Size

Golden West boots are made true to size. Start with your typical shoe size in well-made sneakers or leather shoes.

  • Between sizes? We recommend sizing up if you have a wider foot.

  • Already wear cowboy boots? Use the size that fits you best in a classic brand.

Step 2: Try Them On the Right Way

When your boots arrive, here’s how to make sure the fit is just right:

  • Use a boot sock or a sock that is slightly thicker than your everyday sock, but not bulky.

  • Stand up and walk around on carpet to protect the soles in case you need to return.

  • Expect heel slip. A little lift in the heel (¼–½ inch) is normal and will disappear as the sole breaks in.

  • Feel for a snug instep: this is the top of your foot. It should feel secure, like a hug, not tight, not loose.

  • Check the toe room. You should be able to wiggle your toes. No cramping, no pinching.

  • Look for comfort, not cushion. Leather molds to your foot over time.

Step 3: Break Them In Like a Pro

Leather boots only get better with wear. Here’s how to ease into your new pair:

  • Wear them around the house for short periods

  • Let them naturally soften at pressure points (especially the instep)

  • Want to speed it up? Try a leather conditioner on tight areas

  • Avoid heat or water to force a stretch. They’re built to break in with you, not against you

Step 4: Still Unsure? We Got You.

Boots shouldn’t be complicated. Email us at help@goldenwestboots.com with your usual size, foot width, and what style you’re eyeing. We’ll help you find your perfect fit.

Pro Tips:

  • Try on boots you already own. Most of us have one foot slightly bigger.

  • Try them in the afternoon, your feet naturally swell a little throughout the day.

  • Try on while standing. Weight-bearing fit matters.
